Camaro smashed by chain allegedly involved in DWI crash

The same man whose car was smashed by a chain last week is now allegedly involved in a DWI crash that happened Monday night in the same car.

According to the police report, police went to the 1300 block of Second Avenue SW after homeowners said a car ran through their hedges and hit both cars parked in their driveway. Both suspects allegedly fled the scene on foot. The passenger, who is also the owner of a 1998 Chevy Camaro that struck the parked cars on Monday, was later found and arrested several blocks from the scene. The driver of the Camaro, who is 18, allegedly turned himself into police at about 1 a.m. Tuesday and will likely be cited for fourth-degree DWI, minor consumption and leaving the scene of an accident.

Both men will be formally charged in Mower County Court.

Last week two other men allegedly stopped the owner of the Camaro as he was driving through Austin. One man allegedly smashed the windshield and hood with a chain.
