VFW brings Showtime comic to Austin

Austin VFW Post 1216’s monthly comedy show “Very Funny Wednesday”, 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at, starring headliner Jon Wilson, with special guest Nate Abshire. Tickets are available for the special mid-week price of $5. The show is open to the public.

Jon Wilson is quickly becoming a favorite performer out of Minneapolis. His real-life, neurotic self emerges on stage to create an act described as unique, memorable, and of course, hilarious. In addition to starring in Showtime’s most recent “Louie Anderson Presents”, Jon has featured at clubs all around the Midwest, spreading his unique brand of humor to delighted audiences wherever he goes. He is also the winner of The 2008 MinneHAHA Comedy Competition.

Nate Abshire started performing to spite a girl who wouldn’t return his calls, and he never looked back. Audiences love his sardonic wit, keen writing, and playful stage presence. Based in Minneapolis, he performs in clubs throughout the Twin Cities and the greater Midwest. The girl still won’t return his calls. Nate was also a finalist in the Twin Cities Funniest Person Contest.

Tickets are available at the VFW or by calling Brad at 507-589-9436, or Nathan at 507-279-2425.
