Citizens upset about road conditions
A group of residents in Udolpho Township should have an answer Tuesday about whether the township board will begin maintaining its roads.
The county board is set to hold a public hearing at 11 a.m. in response to a complaint from about eight homeowners north of Austin along 304th Street, 306th Street and 538th Avenue.
The property owners went to the board for help on Oct. 25, asking the commissioners to mediate and get Udolpho Township to maintain the gravel roads.
“It’s completely impassable,” said Kathleen Oswald, who lives on 306th Street.
Oswald said the township is neglecting to maintain the roads in any way, and she said it’s common for residents to be completely snowed in or for the gravel roads to be bogged down with mud.
“We have no township maintenance of those roads,” she said.
The home owners went to the township board, but Oswald said officials continued to refuse to maintain the roads, as they’ve done since 2001.
The board’s meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. with Human Services business.
