Sexual predator to serve 16 years

A sex offender from LeRoy who committed crimes more than eight years ago with a young victim is going to prison for more than 16 years.

Neal Scott Johnson, 46, was convicted Thursday in Mower County Court of felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a significant relationship younger than 16. Two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed. Johnson is ordered to serve 200 months in prison.

According to court documents, the victim reported the abuse to police July 30, 2011.

The victim told police Johnson abused her since 2003, when she was 5 years old. She added the abuse would occur at least four to five times a month, but over time happened around 10 times a month. The last sexual encounter was on July 16, 2011, she told officers.

Johnson was arrested and transported to Mower County jail last August, where he declined to be interviewed by police.
