Teen may face felony charge for pulling knife in school
ALBERT LEA — A 15-year-old boy is expected to be charged with felony second-degree assault after he reportedly brandished a small pocketknife Wednesday at Albert Lea High School.
The teenager, whose name has not been released, allegedly flashed the knife at a 17-year-old boy in the commons at about 7:30 a.m., said Albert Lea Police Department Lt. J.D. Carlson.
The 17-year-old reportedly was making squeaking noises with his shoes before the 15-year-old allegedly pulled out the knife.
The department’s school resource officer Ted Herman investigated the situation.
Carlson said the 15-year-old was not arrested, and he did not know whether he was suspended.
Herman is still completing his investigation. The charges would come in Freeborn County Juvenile Court.
Carlson said in addition to second-degree assault, the boy may be charged with having a knife on school grounds.
