Austin’s Carol Cox has retired from Curves for Women after 11 years as owner/manager.

Her business, which began at 300 N Main St., is now located at 203 11th St. NE, near Jim’s Marketplace. The business will continue under the management of Rachelle Root. Cox retired April 1.

Cox became involved in Curves to combat osteoarthritis and avoid hip replacement, according to a press release. She said through workouts, she became more fit and doesn’t experience the pain she used to. She said she will now continue her fitness routine as a lifetime member.

Root, who has worked for Cox for several years, is ready to begin a new chapter for the business, adding staff and tweaking the program.
