Felony suspect flees from justice center

Police chased a 26-year-old around Austin Monday morning after he fled his probation officer.

According to the police report, Austin Police officers arrested Alex Hernandez, of Austin, after chasing him around town.

Hernandez allegedly fled Mower County Corrections and got into a vehicle with a 23-year-old woman from Albert Lea. The vehicle went west on Oakland Avenue while an officer pursued. The driver eventually pulled into the parking lot of City Carwash, the report adds, and Hernandez continued to refuse officers’ orders. Police fired a Taser at Hernandez as he was allegedly going to run again. One dart from the Taser struck Hernandez, and he then complied with officers.

According to the police report, Hernandez had a felony warrant from Freeborn County. The driver of the vehicle may be charged with driving after revocation and failure to yield, the report adds.
