Convicted felon sent to prison after skipping court date

A 27-year-old who was convicted of felony domestic assault and put on probation for punching his roommate and throwing a chair and beer bottle at him was sent to prison Friday for failure to appear in court.

Sebit Lokori, of Austin, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for the felony failure to appear. He was given credit for time served since April.

Police went to the 900 block of Fourth Avenue NE on Feb. 18, according to the court complaint, where a 33-year-old man said Lokori hit him in the face and threw him to the ground. After throwing a beer bottle at the victim and missing, Lokori hit the victim on the back with a metal folding chair, which bent the chair, according to the court complaint. The victim then went outside and called for help. Two witnesses at the resident confirmed the attack.

According to the court complaint, Lokori had been drinking, admitted to hitting the victim and told the officer to arrest him. However, Lokori later denied the charges.

“I didn’t do anything,” Lokori said, according to the complaint. “Why are you doing this.”

Upon further questioning, Lokori admitted that he likely hit the victim, the complaint states.
