Burglar investigated in a second case

A recently convicted burglar is again on trial for his alleged role in another Austin burglary case.

Jayson Christopher Pomsyda, 18, of Austin, pleaded not guilty Thursday to second-degree burglary and theft. He was recently convicted of second-degree burglary for his role in an April firearms theft.

In this case, the complaint alleges that Pomsyda ransacked a home while a teen stood lookout for him on July 25. According to the complaint, a car pulled into the driveway, and the suspects fled. However, a bike left in the driveway led officers to teens and eventually the stolen items and information about Pomsyda’s alleged involvement, according to the complaint.

Several people in the neighborhood that night also identified Pomsyda from a photo lineup and said he was at the scene. All told, the stolen items totaled $1,670, including rings, necklaces, a sewing machine and collection of coins.

Pomsyda demanded a speedy trial and has a hearing Sept. 10. He is on five years’ probation for his role in the April firearms burglary.
