Patsy Cline tribute coming to Paramount
Patsy Cline may be gone, but her music lives on.
That’s what Colene “CoCo” Walters will bring to the Paramount Theatre Saturday, June 16.
“Patsy Cline is one of those names that is up there with the superstars,” said local promoter Denny Charnecki.
Walters is no slouch herself. A Nashville regular for years, Walters has been endorsed as the preferred Patsy Cline tribute act by Reba McEntire and Chet Atkins, Charnecki said.
Walters also took Dolly Parton’s spot in “The Porter Wagoner Show” in the 1990s and 2000s, where they performed for the Grand Ole Opry, and other shows. She moved back to Nashville recently and is working on another CD, according to Charnecki.
Local residents may remember Walters as Janis Joplin during the “Age of Aquarius” show at the Paramount in March.
Walters will be back with a show organized around Cline’s life, from her country upbringing to her days as a Las Vegas performer.
“She portrays Patsy better than anyone I’ve ever seen,” Charnecki said. “She gets into songs so deeply, so soulfully, you can almost hear the crying in her voice.”
Walters will perform at 7:30 p.m. June 16. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and $5 for students.
