Council to discuss parking restrictions

The Austin City Council won’t deal with many issues at its upcoming public meeting.

The council is expected to approve two-hour restricted parking along the 800 block of Third Street Northwest by Eighth Avenue at its public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday inside City Council Chambers.

A resident complained to the city people had parked for extended periods of time in front of his property, making it difficult for snow plows and street sweepers to clean up his side of the street. The resident tried to put up his own parking signs, but the city asked they be removed. The council unanimously voted to approve parking restrictions in the area at its previous work session, and will make a motion to approve the restrictions Monday.

In addition, council members will discuss an airport property farm lease with Scott Family Farms LLC., approve an agreement with Mower County on the joint Law Enforcement Center renovation, and discuss a joint letter with Austin Utilities urging federal legislators to keep municipal debt interest payments tax free.
