KSMQ airing special on Packers’ historic basketball season

Packers basketball is getting one more go-round this season.

KSMQ-TV will document the 2011-12 Austin boys’ basketball season with a special 30-minute program entitled “One Wild Ride: Austin Boys’ Basketball 2012” broadcast at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 13. The program, produced by KSMQ-TV, will feature in-depth interviews with players, game highlights, as well as reflections from head coach Kris Fadness.

Making their first appearance at the Minnesota state basketball tournament in 30 years, the Austin Packers amassed an overall season record of 23-5 and won the Big 9 Conference title. They advanced to the state tournament with a thrilling sectional victory over New Prague before being defeated in the state quarterfinals.

Among the program features will be a specially-edited reel featuring highlights from the entire season set to music. A roundtable discussion features Fadness and players Goliath Oboyo and Tom Aase.

“The season was historic for this team and ‘Packer Fever’ enveloped the entire Austin area for many weeks,” said Eric Olson, KSMQ President and CEO. “We are thrilled to be able to provide viewers with a nice memory.”
