Von Feldt saw state success, learned teamwork

Tom Von Feldt had plenty of success when he was playing football, basketball and baseball at Pacelli High School.

Now he’s about to relive it.

Von Feldt, who played on the 1965 state champion baseball and basketball teams, will be inducted to the Pacelli High School Athletic Hall of Fame Friday.

Von Feldt, who graduated in 1965, worked in medical sales after attending Pacelli and he’s now retired and living in Madison, Wis.

“You use the whole competition thing and how to work with teammates your whole life,” he said. “I learned not to give up.”

Von Feldt is looking forward to coming back to his old high school so he can look back on some good times.

“There’s a lot of fond memories, and we had some success; but more than that, I had some good friends on and off the field,” he said. “I’m excited to come back to Austin, and it always recharges my batteries. It’s nice to go back in time with the memories, and I consider it a great honor to be chosen (for the hall of fame).”

Von Feldt is one of six Pacelli grads who will be inducted into the athletic hall of fame June 22. Look for the other grads to be featured in the Herald throughout the week.
