25-year-old stabbed in Albert Lea

A 25-year-old Albert Lea man was stabbed Wednesday afternoon during an altercation on Newton Avenue.

According to a news release, the man underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Authorities were alerted to the stabbing after the man came to the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea at 4:17 p.m. He had been transported to the emergency room by a private vehicle right after the alleged assault and had reportedly been stabbed in the torso.

The release states the suspect who reportedly stabbed the victim fled from the scene and has not been arrested. What might have led to the assault has not been released.

The incident remains under investigation, and police stated the general public is not at risk.
