Armed robbery suspect pleads not guilty

An 18-year-old charged in an alleged armed robbery in Austin on Nov. 17 pleaded not guilty Thursday in Mower County Court.

Willister Davenport Jr., of Austin, pleaded not guilty to aggravated first-degree robbery, a felony.

Davenport and a 17-year-old were arrested for allegedly robbing other teenagers for a pound of marijuana at gunpoint. According to the court complaint, a woman involved in the case gave the marijuana back to the victim. According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, Austin police did not recover any marijuana after the incident. Krueger added he expects no more arrests in the case.

The court complaint adds police found a weapon — a .22 caliber pistol — after a person in the case showed them where it was tossed in the Cedar River.

Davenport has a pretrial set for March 18.
