Nathan Neitzell isn’t just running for state representative, he’s also busy co-owning Signs of Momentum LLC in Hayward.

The business is a full-service printing shop specializing in plastic yard signs.

“The ink we use is UV resistant and will not fade in the sun,” said Neitzell. “Our goal for the business includes, but is not limited to, expansion and growth.”

Neitzell’s father, Vern Neitzell, bought an old schoolhouse in Hayward in 2005 and turned it into the screen printing company. His father got busy with his other company, but Neitzell didn’t want to see Signs of Momentum disappear. So he took the reins.

“He approached me about it last December, and I decided to jump on board,” said Neitzell, who took over by January.

Erik Dahlgren, co-owner of Signs of Momentum, and other family members also contribute to the business. Zoe Neitzell, Nathan’s sister-in-law, is the office manager, and Joanna Neitzell, Nathan’s sister, is the graphic designer and production manager.

Signs of Momentum has come a long way since the ownership was passed down. Neitzell wants the business to be a fun and enjoyable work environment and hopes to see growth in production and clientele.

“It’s a place with open communication and a family type of atmosphere,” he said.

Neitzell, who lives in Austin, will run against Rep. Jeanne Poppe, DFL-Austin, for the House’s District 27B seat.
