The day has finally come for one of 12 county dairy princesses to be crowned the next Princess Kay of the Milky Way.

The coronation ceremony begins at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the State Fair Band Shell.

Nicole Jax, 19, of Waltham is Mower County’s finalist. She attends South Dakota State University where she is studying dairy manufacturing with a minor in food safety.

Each of the finalists will also give a “My Farm, My Story” presentation about dairy farmers’ commitment to healthy people, communities, and planet.

They will also have a butter sculpture made of them over the course of the fair.
