Foul trouble catches up to Lyle-Pacelli girls

The Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team dropped its second straight game by five points or less when it fell to Randolph (1-1 overall) 53-49 on the road Monday.

L-P (1-2 overall) had the ball in a tie game with 47 seconds left, but it turned the ball over an in-bounds pass and Ann Rysavy, who led L-P with 21 points, fouled on Randolph’s ensuing possession.

The Rockets hit two free throws to take the lead for good after Rysavy fouled out and L-P’s other main guard, Courtney Walter, had fouled out earlier in the game.

“We were playing without our top two guards and that kind of ended it,” Walter said.

Abby Leif and Maggie Lewison also fouled out for L-P.

“We try to play aggressive, but we need to jump passing lanes instead of reaching in,” Walter said. “It’s going to be a struggle with foul trouble this season and it’s been a key in both of our losses so far.”

Madison Truckenmiller, a freshman center, scored 13 points for the Athletics.

L-P scoring: Ann Rysavy, 21; Madison Truckenmiller, 13; Maggie Lewison, 7; Courtney Walter, 5; Bethany Strouf, 2; Sarah Holtz, 1
