Kensett man pleads not guilty to vehicular homicide

NORTHWOOD — A Kensett man accused of vehicular homicide in a September crash pleaded not guilty last week to his charge.

Michael Scott Chodur, 46, entered the plea in Worth County District Court.

Court documents allege Chodur unintentionally caused the death of Lynn Maynard Weedman, 57, of Glenville, when he drove on Sept. 2 while under the influence of amphetamines or methamphetamines.

Chodur reportedly drove his 1980 Chevrolet Corvette into the back of another 1980 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Weedman. Both men had been driving east on Worth County Road A39, west of Nuthatch Avenue near Manly, Iowa.

According to reports, Weedman’s car went into the north ditch and caught fire, coming to rest on its wheels facing west.

Chodur’s car came to a rest in the middle of the highway facing east, where it also caught fire.

Weedman died three days later at the University Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

Chodur posted a $25,000 bond in January.
