Accused golf course burglar, truck thief reportedly has DNA matched

It has been nearly a year, but the suspect in an alleged burglary and truck theft near the Cedar River Country Club was charged and has made his first appearance in Mower County Court after authorities reportedly matched his DNA.

Keith Warren Lammers, 28, of LeSeur, Minn., was charged in February for third-degree burglary, vehicle theft and first-degree criminal damage to property, all felonies. He made his first appearance in court on Wednesday.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, after getting a warrant, had Lammers’ DNA compared with items found in a stolen Ford F150 found in St. Peter. Test results in October showed Lammers’ DNA matched DNA on a rag, the report said.

An Adams Police officer saw someone on the golf course property at 2 a.m. June 15, 2012, and then watched taillights move into a nearby bean field. According to the court complaint, the driver stopped in the field and shut off his lights. The officer and deputies later set up a perimeter around the truck, a 1993 Toyota, but found it running with nobody inside. Back at the golf course, the front door was broken and propped open by a chair. No items were reported stolen, Chief Dept. Mark May said last June, but the damage estimate to the building was $1,451.

Local authorities received a report later that day about a stolen Ford F150 from Adams, which was recovered days later in St. Peter, two blocks from where Lammers was living. Several days later, Lammers said his truck, the 1993 Toyota, and his boat were stolen.

When officers spoke with Lammers about finding his truck, Lammers asked if the boat was with it but didn’t ask whether the truck had damage or if anyone was arrested, according to the court complaint.

Investigators also used Lammers’ GPS in his truck to check his recent locations.

Lammers has a court appearance set for May 2.
