Get ready for big holiday season

As summer winds down, the Austin Area Commission for the Arts is gearing up for its 2012 Fall/Holiday Season.

The season kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, with “A Great Plains Country Show” featuring Nashville Recording Artists Adam Wayne Wollenburg and Illinois Native Derik Schumacher.

Then at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m. we will host the annual “Austin’s Got Talent” show. Anyone with any talent is encouraged to participate.

Contestants can sign up at the Historic Paramount Theatre or by calling 434-0934.

On Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. will feature singer/songwriter Alison Scott, who has become one of the most popular live acts in Minneapolis, selling out the Dakota Jazz Club more than a dozen shows in a row.

The 17th Street Players production of “My Fair Lady” will be on Oct. 11-14.

This show was last seen at the Lighthouse Event Center in Albert Lea.

The Caravan du Nord tour will hit the Paramount Stage on Oct. 26, with Twin Cities-based bands 4onthefloor and Me and My Arrow.

This special event is organized by the Minnesota Music Coalition and is supported through Clean Water & Legacy Amendment funding and 89.3 The Current.

October events will end on Oct. 27 with a disco dance on the stage of the Paramount.

People are invited to come dance to all their ’70s favorites as the DC Drifters rock the stage.

These are just the beginning of this fantastic season.

There will be more events throughout November and December.

We are also working on bringing back movies to the Paramount.
