Home show kicks off Friday

For the 37th straight year, the Austin Home and Vacation Show is kicking off spring.

But this year, the show has a new home at Packer Arena. From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 19, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 20, attendants will have the opportunity for many activities. This year’s show features items and tips for home, lawn pets and more.

Every attendee receives a free pass to Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. Children will have chances to build bird houses, fish in a trout tank and visit Captain Jack Kids Fun Room. Guests will also have a chance to test their racing skills in the race car simulator for a chance to win tickets to Deer Creek Speedway.

Register for thousands of dollars worth of prizes, including an enclosed Aluma motorcycle trailer, a leather recliner, an Energy Star Frigidaire refrigerator, a dream kitchen package, Wal-Mart gift cards, $700 in cash, Austin Chamber Bucks, an installed Wayne Dalton garage door, Austin Bruins season passes, T-shirts and various gift cards to resorts and restaurants.

Nearly 130 businesses will be on hand to answer questions and give away items.

This year also features a ladies corner with jewelry, weight loss products, gourmet foods and wine and beer making kits.
