15-year-old shoots woman accidentally

The Mayo 1 helicopter took a Rose Creek woman to St. Marys Hospital Rochester after she was accidentally shot in the head Friday.

Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi does not have an update on the condition of Maja Iverson, 26, who was shot at about 8 p.m. in rural Rose Creek when a 15-year-old boy — who was shooting birds at the time with a .22 caliber rifle — accidentally shot through a shed and struck Iverson, according to Amazi. Iverson’s husband noticed she fell backward and was bleeding from the ear.

Amazi said Iverson had immediate surgery and was able to give medical personnel a thumb’s up before being taken to the hospital.
