Burglars use lawnmower battery to steal Harley
The Mower County Sheriff’s department is on lookout after a Dexter man reported his Harley Davidson motorcycle stolen from his shed.
According to the report, deputies went to 225th Street in rural Dexter on Wednesday morning after the homeowner noticed his 1993 FLHS Electra Glide Harley was missing. The owner suspects his bike must have been taken sometime between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. According to the report, the homeowner said the burglars broke into his shed, which was locked, and removed a battery from his riding lawnmower to start the Harley. The owner did not notice any other missing items, however.
Chief Deputy Mark May said it is likely that the alleged burglars know the homeowner or at least know about his possessions, as it appears the burglary was planned. Though authorities have no suspects, they did take one piece of evidence for fingerprints.
The license on the Harley is 1991 IMC, and the VIN number is: 1HD1FAL16PYSO4141. The bike also has whitewall tires, leather saddle bags and a windshield. It is valued at $6,000.
