Albert and Shirley Smith of Adams were selected as the winners in America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund.

Grow Communities gives farmers the opportunity to win a $2,500 donation to give to their favorite local nonprofit organization. To further support counties declared disaster areas because of drought, winning farmers in these counties were able to direct double the donation, a total of $5,000 to further support the community.

Mower County was declared a disaster area by the USDA, giving Albert and Shirley the opportunity to place two $2,500 donations. Albert and Shirley selected Sacred Heart Catholic School and Sacred Heart Daycare.
