Austin native to present at Zayed University’s Global Leaders Conference

Mandie Mickelson, a December 2011 Luther College graduate, is one of four Luther students chosen to serve as presenters at the 2012 Women as Global Leaders Conference at Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, March 13-15.

The Luther students are among a select group of young women invited to the conference on the basis of research paper proposals they submitted to the Women as Global Leaders committee. The conference sessions feature college students and educators’ presentation sessions on their research, experiences, and thoughts on developing sustainably focused leaders and empowering women cross-culturally.

The Luther students will present a panel discussion session titled “How Prominent Women Use Media to Effect Socially Sustainable Change.”

Mickelson, the daughter of Todd and Maria Mickelson of Austin, Minn., holds the bachelor of arts degree in communication studies. She is a 2008 graduate of Austin High School.
