Flood watch issued as heavy rain moves into area

Minnesota just can’t get rid of Old Man Winter.

The recent stretch of lousy weather will continue, as a flood watch has been issued through Thursday night with a storm system is expected to bring 1 to 3 inches of rain to the area.

Late Thursday, the rain is expected to turn to snow and 1 to 3 inches of accumulation.

With many rivers running high from snow melt, the rain will add to flooding in some areas.

The heaviest rain is expected tonight into Thursday morning.

Rain is in the forecast for much of the week, but there is a chance of snow to be mixed with the rain through Tuesday.

Other parts of Minnesota have a better chance to see measurable snow. The Twin Cities is under a winter storm watch for Thursday and Friday, with some areas expected to see 6 inches of snow.
