Riverland to host mob of firefighters

Riverland Community College will play host to more than 400 firefighters in an interstate training day this weekend.

The Minnesota State Fire/EMS/Rescue School will take place Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1.

Participants from Minnesota and surrounding states will gain classroom and hands-on experience in a variety of safety courses designed to enhance performance in community fire departments.

Training will utilize training simulators from training programs around the state. Courses include Positive Pressure Ventilation and Attack, Reading Smoke, Auto Extrication, Rescue from Storage Grain Bins, Basic and Advanced Pump Operations, and Railroad 101 for the First Responder. The event is coordinated by Riverland Community College’s fire and safety division and is sponsored by Riverland Community College in cooperation with Rochester Community and Technical College and Rochester Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
