Mayor: Person sought in homicide is ex-boyfriend
GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Officials say the man being sought for questioning in the fatal shooting of a Granite Falls woman is the victim’s ex-boyfriend.
Granite Falls Mayor Dave Smiglewski says 26-year-old Kara Monson was killed and her current boyfriend was critically injured when someone broke into Monson’s home early Monday and shot them. Smiglewski tells the Star Tribune the shooting has shaken members of the community with a population of about 2,900.
The condition of the 28-year-old boyfriend at Hennepin County Medical Center has not been released.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is asking the public to be on the lookout for a 1996 Brown GMC Sierra pickup with Minnesota license plate 032-GGL. Authorities say the driver may be armed.
