Nursing assistant accused of stealing pain patches

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) — A nursing assistant is accused of stealing pain patches from patients at a Fergus Falls nursing home.

Prosecutors say Heidi Ann Soland of Elizabeth took the patches off residents at the Broen Memorial Home while she worked there as a nursing assistant beginning in September 2010. A criminal complaint says other staff members began noticing that when a new patch was applied to a patient, the old one was missing.

KBRF reports Soland is charged with five felonies and four gross misdemeanor charges. A court appearance in Otter Tail County is scheduled April 25.
