HHH, Historical Society to give fall presentation, encourage membership

Once again, the Mower County Historical Society and Hormel Historic Home are offering a treat for their members or those who are considering membership.

The two organizations will hold Remembering Downtown Austin at noon Thursday in the Hormel Historic Home. Space is limited, and guests need to RSVP at 433-4243. The event is free to members of either organization, and is $5 for non-members. The day is also a chance for prospective members to join either or both organizations.

The 45-minute presentation will cover aspects of Austin’s downtown buildings and businesses — some that are gone and some that are still standing.

Dustin Heckman, historical society executive director, and Laura Helle, Hormel Historic Home director, will offer a Powerpoint presentation with pictures and text and will be available for a question and answer session afterward.
