Man allegedly assaults woman over money

An Austin man is in Mower County jail after allegedly assaulting a 27-year-old woman.

Austin Police arrested Patrick Dion, 28, at the 2100 block of Fourth Avenue NE after responding to an assault report at 12:17 a.m. Friday. The victim, who had already gone home, allegedly told police that she and Dion were arguing about money when Dion forced himself through a bathroom door, knocked her into a tub and caused her to hit her head.

The victim allegedly told police she was dazed for about 10 minutes. She added the fight later continued in the hallway, and Dion allegedly kicked her in the chest after she fell to the floor. Dion then allegedly slapped her in the face while in the kitchen. The officer noticed a bump on the victim’s head and bruises on her face; however, the victim declined medical attention.

The officer noticed that Dion smelled of alcohol when he was taken to jail, as well. Dion has been cited for fifth-degree assault.
