27-year-old pleads guilty to hitting man with metal folding chair

A 27-year-old Austin man who punched his roommate, threw a beer bottle at him and hit him with a chair pleaded guilty Thursday in Mower County Court.

Sebit Lokori pleaded guilty to felony domestic assault as part of a plea agreement; two other assault with a dangerous weapon charges were dropped.

Police responded to a residence at the 900 block of Fourth Avenue NE on Feb. 18, according to the court complaint. A 33-year-old man said Lokori hit him in the face and threw him to the ground. After throwing a beer bottle at the victim and missing, Lokori allegedly hit the victim on the back with a metal folding chair, which bent the chair, according to the court complaint. The victim told police he went outside and called for help. Two witnesses at the resident confirmed the attack.

According to the court complaint, Lokori had been drinking, admitted to hitting the victim and told the officer to arrest him. However, Lokori later denied the charges.

“I didn’t do anything,” Lokori said, according to the complaint. “Why are you doing this.”

Upon further questioning, Lokori admitted that he likely hit the victim, the complaint states.

If convicted, Lokori could face as much as seven years in jail and a $14,000 fine. His sentencing is set for April 12.
