Dog stolen from car during ceremony
An Austin man was attending Memorial Day services Monday morning when his Yorkshire Terrier was allegedly stolen from his vehicle.
The man was parked on Fourth Street Northeast near the Cedar River, and when he returned to his car, his dog, Kirby, was gone. Kirby had been in a pet carrier inside the car; the doors were locked, but one of the windows was open for air, the man told police.
There was no sign of forced entry into the vehicle, so police think the culprit may have unlocked the door through the window. The pet carrier was left in the car.
Kirby is a gray and black Yorkshire Terrier and has a collar and tags.
