Park project helps build community

A good experience in community-building took place on Saturday, May 12, at the south end of Second Street SE, when SPARK Dog Park committee members, the Austin High School wrestling team, and local volunteers worked from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. to install fencing and gates for the new off-leash public dog park. SPARK would like to acknowledge these willing and hard workers, without whom the dogs of Austin would still be without a place to socialize and run:

Mark Owens, Dave Goettsch, Karen Baier, Lori Reed, Doug and Faith Snater, the Tom Woodhouse family, Dr. Kelly Nesvold, Dr. Daryl Rauser, David Bush, Matt Lee, Dave Thomson, Ken Cowan, Bill Kinney, Brandon Cotter, Brennen Russell, Josh Maxfield, Joseph Maxfield, Braden Eggum, Michael Gainer, Michael Holletz, Nathan Brinkman, Cole Igou.

Donors of funding and materials will be acknowledged at the official inauguration of the park sometime in June.

On behalf of all canines of Austin, especially the big one,

The SPARK Committee:
Martha Hauschildt
Megan Burroughs
Michael Schatz
Holly Wallace
Al & Maryann Bush
Ryan Anderson
Julie Thomson
Virginia Larsen
Mike Ruzek
Mayor Tom Stiehm
