Circle donates $4.38K to Riverland scholarship fund
The Circle of Friends recently donated $4,389.90 to the Riverland Community College Foundation to sponsor an endowed scholarship that honors the memory of Elizabeth Ann Moen.
Circle of Friends members Brad Reuter, John Moen, Gauher (Mo) Mohammad, & Judd Dingmann presented the check to Steve Bowron, dean for institutional advancement, Riverland Community College, and the executive director for the Riverland Community College Foundation on June 20.
Elizabeth Ann Moen, died suddenly from a brain aneurysm on Feb. 15, 2008, at the age of 20. The Circle of Friends honor her memory and spirit in caring, by holding this benefit, in hopes that they too may change the lives of others.
The golf fundraiser has been held each year since her death and to-date has generated more than $18,000 to be used for scholarships supporting students attending Riverland Community College.
Endowments are gifts invested by the Foundation. Only the interest income, in accordance with the donors’ wishes, funds a specific purpose or area of greatest need.
“An endowment is a gift that will continually help Riverland students,” Bowron said. “This is a great way to honor Liz and help many deserving students with scholarship support as they work toward their education and career goals.”
