The race program went on despite heavy rains all around the Lansing area. A season high 101-cars signed in to race on Albert Lea Steel and The New Smitty’s Tavern night at the speedway. Three drivers continued their hot streaks with one of those getting some help in post race tech inspection. Brandon Davis’ streak was stopped at three and two more got their first wins of the year.

The Y-Waste Removal Hornets kicked off the feature action and Jeremy Wenzel took his second win after a hard fought battle with Mitch Balik. They exchanged the lead several times in the 10-lap race before Wenzel took over late in the event

The Misgen Auto Parts Pure Stocks had another wild feature event. It started with a hard crash when Anna Brouwers hit the left rear of Adam Godeke and then piled into Cole Lonergan, who nailed the turn three wall very hard. Lonergan was done for the evening while Brouwers went pitside for repairs.

Brady Krohnberg survived a few caution flags to score his first win of the year with Stacy Krohnberg second. Matt Brooks wound up third with Keith Weber fourth and Katie Elward finished in fifth.

A season high 27-L&D Ag USRA B-Mods turned out this week and 20-of them took the green flag for their 15-lap feature. Unfortunately that was about the only action the green flag would see. Two quick yellows before lap two could be completed slowed things down. Then Scott Demmer got turned and collected six cars for another yellow flag.

Kadden Kath and Chad Dugan raced for the lead, but then Kath spun after contact by Dugan for yet another yellow on lap two. On the restart three cars piled up in turn one for the fifth yellow and that chopped five laps off the length of the race. The green stayed out long enough for Kylie Kath to take the lead on lap three and Jacob Bleess slipped to second. Demmer would stall on lap three for the sixth caution flag.

That brought a green, white, checkered finish for what would be a five-lap main event. Kath held on for his fourth win of the season with Bleess in second. Kadden Kath was third while Brian Schrage finished fourth and Dan Hovden was fifth.

Nathan Schumacher led at the start of the Albert Lea Steel WISSOTA Street Stock feature with Brent Holland second. Bobby Kilby, Kory Adams and Noah Grinstead were three abreast for third. Kilby took the spot while A.J. Zvorak zoomed to fourth.

Kilby drove past Holland for second, Zvorak followed to third and Mike Blowers was up to fourth on lap three. Kilby then zipped past Schumacher for the lead one lap later while Zvorak and Blowers kept up for second and third. Zvorak challenged Kilby for the lead on lap five and they were side-by-side with Blowers close. Zvorak took the lead and one lap later Jim Connors lost his right rear wheel for the races first caution.

The top four ran close and another yellow slowed the pace as Noah Grinstead hit the turn three wall. Zvorak led while Blowers worked his way to second when he passed Kilby. Zvorak took the checkered flag first, but he along with fourth place finisher Bobby Kilby were disqualified in post race tech inspection for illegal bushings in the rear suspension. That moved Blowers to first and his win streak continues with four straight clean sweeps. Kory Adams was second with Jason Barber, Kyle King and Andrew Lokenvitz fifth.

Jason Born continues his early season tear in the Farm Boy BBQ WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. Born started in eighth and was up to second on lap one. Born bolted past Jayme Hiller for the lead on lap two while Mike Mehling got to third. Beau Lammers stalled to bring out the caution flag.

On the restart Born took off while Mehling got by Tim Myhre for second. Greg Pfeifer Jr. moved by Myhre for third on lap three and then Myhre spun and collected Jeff Born along with Ryan Siegle. Jason Born took off and held off a brief challenge from Mehling to snare his third win of the season. Mehling was second and Lammers recovered to finish third. Pfeifer Jr. would wind up fourth with last week’s winner Robbie Franklin fifth.

Kevin Vogt took the lead early in the Power 96/KQAQ970 AM IMCA Stock Car main event. Austin Curtin nabbed the lead on lap two while Lynn Panos got to second. Panos drove to the inside of Curtin and made the pass for the win on lap three.

Panos drove away from there for his first win of the season. Dan Mackenthun made a late surge to finish second with Travis Shipman in third. Curtin would finish in fourth while Andrew Inman wound up fifth.

Darwyn Karau and Josh Angst drew the first row, and both drivers rejected their shot at the Brew Pub Pizza Front Row Challenge. Next week the potential bonus to race from the back to the front goes to $1000. The race was called back initially as it was a ragged start.

Darwyn Karau bolted off the front row for the lead. The race was slowed on lap two when Joe Wernecke and Josh Angst tangled to trigger a six-car pileup. Karau took off while Brad Waits moved to second. Waits challenged Karau on lap three and four as Brandon Davis was up to third.

Karau pulled away and was in command until a broken u-joint ended his tremendous run. Waits took over from there and drove smoothly through lapped traffic for his first win of the season and that ended Davis’ three race win streak. Davis would finish second with Kevin Stoa third, Don Shaw fourth and Damon Haslip was fifth.
