Legion sending local student to Boys State

American Legion Post 91 in Austin will send a local high schooler to the organizations 64th annual Legion Boys State.

Post 91 Commander Roland Hanson announced at a recent Post meeting that Post 91 will send Steven Krob, whom was named Post boys state chairman.

Scholars to boys state must be juniors in high school and are honored for outstanding qualifications. They are named through the Post, high school faculty and the community.

Legion Boys State is a learning experience in local and sate government. Its participants apply knowledge gained through school experiences and additional knowledge provided through instruction by competent individuals from selected governmental areas. They will be encouraged through participation toward better civic behavior and appreciation of democratic ideals.

Legion Boys State was first held in Minnesota in 1949 with 169 attendees on the St. Paul Campus of University of Minnesota. Last year 385 boys attended the program.
