Nature Center to tag monarch butterflies

Monarchs born after Aug. 15 in this latitude are generally considered migratory. The Nature Center will have tags to tag the individual Monarchs. Students in this class will be certified to sign out tags for tagging. There are two classes open to children ages 10, 11 & 12 for our Monarch Tagging classes. Classes run from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 and 26.

Where: Jay C. Hormel Nature Center
When: 1 to 3:30 p.m., Aug. 19 & 26 Why: Monarch butterflies are flying through the region on their way to California & Mexico.  Kids will have a chance to learn about the butterflies and tag them as part of a large-scale research project.
