Awesome Blossoms get past Randolph volleyball team

The Blooming Prairie volleyball team beat No. 5 Randolph (8-16 overall) 25-17, 25-16, 25-15 in the first round of the Section 1A West Division tournament in BP Thursday.

Taylor Hagen slammed down 19 kills and had five blocks for No. 4 BP (22-7 overall), which will play top-seed Faribault Bethlehem Academy in Mayo Civic Center Saturday at 1 p.m.

BP allowed just once ace on Thursday and it tallied 11 ace serves of its own.

“We wanted to make sure we were focused and we wanted to be aggressive with our serves,” BP head coach Gina McLaughlin said.

BP lost to FBA 25-21, 25-13, 25-19 in the regular season.

“We’ll have to control the passing and it’ll be a big game for us,” McLaughlin said.
