Audubon Society plans meeting
Discussion at the Austin Audubon Society meeting will be all about Chimney Swifts.
Greg Munson, past Quarry Hill Nature Center Director and an expert on Chimney Swifts, will be at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center sharing his passion and knowledge at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20.
Munson will provide a status report on the Chimney Swifts’ population (also known as the flying cigar) and the natural history related to it.
The Austin Audubon received a $300 grant from Audubon Minnesota to build a Chimney Swift Tower. To enhance the Chimney Swift population, Austin Audubon and the Friends of the Nature Center are collaborating to build the tower at the Nature Center that will provide a family nesting site.
The Austin Audubon Society meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month, from September through May at the Nature Center. Visitors are always welcome.
