It was autograph night at Chateau Raceway, and about 50 drivers brought their cars on the frontstretch greet fans before the program. French’s Repair & Fabrication sponsored the program, which featured the AMSOIL Race Of Champion qualifying races for the Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks. Those feature winners qualify for a special race held at the Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 in Huron, S.D. next month.

The Misgen Auto Parts Pure Stock point race is sure to be shaken up after this week. Defending champ Dylan Nelson suffered night-ending mechanical woes in his heat and was unable to start the main event. Cole Lonergan led the race early with Adam Godeke and Brady Krohnberg close.

Krohnberg got by to second and challenged Lonergan for the lead. Krohnberg made the pass, but Lonergan returned the favor. Meanwhile, Tyler Peterson zoomed to third on a restart after starting in row four.

Krohnberg made a late race pass of Lonergan to end a dry streak to pick up his first win at the speedway since April 24, 2009. Lonergan was second with Peterson third. Stacy Krohnberg finished fourth.

Terry Kohnert led the L&D Ag USRA B-Mods until lap six when Scott Demmer took over. Demmer rode a two-race win streak into this week but had his hands full with Kylie Kath when he bolted to second also on lap six.

Kath took the lead on lap eight and held on for his fifth win of the season and 14th top five in as many shows. Demmer was a close second with Todd Borwege in third, Terry Kohnert in fourth and John Warrington finished out the top five.

The Best Disposal WISSOTA Street Stocks lined up for their 15-lap feature, and after the redraw Tyler Peterson and Mike Blowers were in row one. Blowers drove away from the pack. A late tangle between Tony Shaner and Jason Barber sent both to the tail and a green, white, checkered finish.

Blowers drove away for his second win in a row, sixth of the season and a clean sweep to boot along with being qualified for the Race of Champions at Huron. Tyler Peterson was second with Jason Newkirk third. Nathan Schumacher finished in fourth and Shaner rebounded to fifth.

Jeff Born led the Farm Boy BBQ WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature from the start while Cody Gardner applied heavy pressure. Bryan Hernandez and Greg Pfeifer Jr. had a good race going for third while Cory Crasper cracked the top five. Gardner threw everything he had at Born but couldn’t muster enough to pass.

Hernandez and Crasper crept close to the lead duo. As the laps wound down, the leaders drew close to the back of the field. On lap 13, the leaders were almost caught up to the tail end of the pack. Born just got a touch loose in turn four and that was all Gardner needed and shot to the lead. Born gathered his car but then went on a wild spin, up and over the bank in turn one to bring out the yellow.

On the restart, Crasper tried a move on Hernandez for second that did not pan out, and Hernandez spun to bring out the yellow. Crasper was charged for the yellow and was placed to the rear. Gardner held on for his fifth win of the season, a clean sweep also and is now qualified for the Race of Champions. Hernandez was second, with Pfeifer Jr. third. Anthony Condit was fourth and Jason Born fifth.

The Power 96/KQAQ 970 AM IMCA Stock Cars only had six in attendance. Austin Curtin led until lap 14 when he spun while leading. That handed the lead to Chris Adams who led until a caution on the white flag lap slowed the pace. Track rules state the race must end under green, but everyone thought the race was over. Adams pulled into the infield towards victory lane.

It was ruled the race had a green, white, checkered dash left to complete. In a bizarre turn of events, Adams car was broke in the infield and he could not continue. Blake Cole then inherited the lead and took his second win of the season. Only three cars finished with Travis Shipman and Ryan Goergen in second and third.

Jacob Dahle had his hands full with A.J. Wiste during the early stages of the French’s Repair & Fabrication USRA Modified feature. Wiste hung with the leader for a bit, but Dahle stretched things out. Wiste had to fight off Todd Scharkey and fifth-row starter Brandon Davis.

Davis got by on lap 17, and a yellow for debris tightened things up. Davis and Scharkey raced hard for second, and then Wiste just about lost his car in a spin that dropped him to the back on lap 21.

Dahle took second win of the season while Davis spun on the final lap and Scharkey drove past for second. Davis was still able to finish third with Greg Jensen in fourth. Wiste finished fifth. Only six of the 13 starters were around at the checkered flag.

In the S&S Auto Salvage Hornets, Gary Stahl scored his fifth win of the season over Braeden Allen and Travis Morris.

Next Friday will be the final track point night for the USRA Modifieds, WISSOTA Street Stocks and Hornets. The rest of the divisions final point night will be on Aug. 31.
