Packer boys basketball falls to Bloomington Kennedy

All good things must eventually come to an end.

The Austin boys basketball team had its 41-game regular season winning streak snapped when it lost 60-57 to Bloomington Kennedy (4-1 overall) in Minnetonka Saturday.

The Packers (4-1 overall) led 47-38 with eight minutes left, but things took a turn for the worse down the stretch.

“I felt like we wore down a little bit physically and we missed some free throws and didn’t shoot well down the stretch,” Austin head coach Kris Fadness said.

Bret Lukes poured in 25 points to lead Austin, which shot 39 percent from the field and 50 percent on free throws in the loss.

Austin scoring: Bret Lukes, 25; Zach Wessels, 12; Jacob Kempen, 8; Ajuda Nywesh, 7; Nik Gasner, 3; Gach Gach, 2; field goals: 39 percent (19-for-49); free throws: 50 percent (8-for-16)
