Snow making a comeback?

It may not be enough to get the shovel back out, but we’re expecting some snow over the weekend.

A little snow could come through Mower County early Saturday morning and last throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service. NWS meteorologists are calling for little to no snow accumulation, but chances are there will be a few flurries mixed in with some incoming rain.

“It’s not uncommon,” said Tom Stangeland, NWS hydrometeorological technician. “There are some fairly big snows that have occurred in April.”

Stangeland said the weather is still shifting from warm to cool as the spring progresses, and though most snows take place earlier in the month it should come as no surprise that snow is coming to the area.

“We’re still in that transition mode,” he said.

Rain could continue throughout Saturday with a slight chance of rain Saturday night. Sunday could be partly sunny with a chance of showers Sunday night into Monday.
