Adams to relive Civil War

Adams will continue its tradition of reliving the Civil War during re-enactments on Saturday and Sunday. Adams Civil War Days re-enactments will take place at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday at Adams Park. The grounds open at 9 a.m. each day.

“It’s a great way to learn more about the history of the Civil War than just reading about it in a book,” said Neal Pederson, one of the organizers and a participant in the battles.

More than 100 people will act as soldiers while wearing the same wool, historically accurate uniforms during 45-minute battles.

During the mock war, visitors can experience living historians, medical demos, a quilting bee, musicians, children’s crafts and food and refreshments.

When the battle is over, spectators will get to venture closer to the battle grounds and see the living historians at work. The event is free and open to the public.
