Hockey: Gallaher nets hat trick as Packer girls win big
Austin senior Abby Gallaher racked up three goals and two assists as the Packers rolled past Waseca (1-2 overall) 7-1 in their girls hockey season opener in Riverside Arena Saturday.
Austin junior Kennedy Thompson added two goals, Carley Grunewald had three assists, and eighth grader Madison Overby had her first career goal, in the wire-to-wire win.
“We had some first game jitters, but overall we did well,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said.
Eighth grader Allison Hoban had 17 saves for the Packers (1-0 overall), who fired off 43 shots.
