Police warn of parking limits as storm wanes
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Mower County until noon Friday.
NWS meteorologists say about 1 to 3 inches of snow fell Thursday and into Friday, causing snow-covered roads and slippery conditions for travelers. An additional inch of snow was expected Friday, and temperatures could reach as high as 24 degrees.
With winter in full swing, the Austin Police Department is reminding residents to watch where they park.
Police Lt. John Mueller said 12-hour on-street parking is still in effect, and residents do need to move their cars after snow has fallen. Mueller said the city’s streets department had trouble plowing several roads yesterday because of cars parked on the street, and several cars which haven’t moved since last week’s snowstorm were towed. Police encourage residents to watch for alerts when snow hits the area.
