On Monday night, during the Austin City Council meeting, the Austin Police Department honored an original member of APD’s Chaplain Program, Victor Ordonez.
Sgt. Daniel Osborn presented Ordonez with a plaque during the meeting and lauded Ordonez for his dedication to community.
“He has responded to several critical incidents, ride-alongs, community events and has served the public diligently,” Osborne said. “Victor is a model citizen and exceptional chaplain. We are saddened to see Victor leave the program and he will be missed.”
Ordonez added, “It’s been a blessing for me.”
Ordonez will be replaced by Pastor Dan Mielke of Grace Baptist Church here in Austin.
Mielke played a critical role during a July standoff in 2024 that freed the daughter of Kristofer Luiken and ending the incident.
