Jane K. Roden, 92

Jane K. Roden, 92, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 in Austin, Minnesota.

Jane Keenan Roden was born December 29, 1932 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Robert Sr and Margaret Keenan. She is a graduate of the University of St. Catherine, University of Minnesota, and the University of Notre Dame. Jane’s extensive career includes teaching and secondary school administration at several schools in Minnesota. After marrying Eugene Roden, Jane worked as a manager at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois. Most people in Southern Minnesota remember Jane as being one of the co­-owners of the local Wagon Wheel Restaurant here in Austin, Minnesota. After retirement from the restaurant business, Jane served for several years at the Mower County Humane Society as President and Vice President. She volunteered many years cleaning kennels, conducting pet adoptions and doing fundraisers. She was one of the main people who pushed to get the Mower County Humane Society its first ­ever permanent location in Austin.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Roden, parents, brother, Robert Jr, and sister, Kathleen Keenan.

Thank you to the St. Croix Hospice team and Our House personnel who cared for Jane during her final weeks.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary.  Interment will follow at Rose Creek Enterprise Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mower County Humane Society or to the St. Paul Province, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, 1890 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota, 55105.
