Just a couple weeks after her departure, Mower County has hired its next county administrator to replace Trish Harren Gjersvik.
Deputy County Administrator Matthew Verdick was named county administrator effective May 7, taking over for Harren Gjersvik, who stepped down after over six years as the county’s first county administrator.
She is currently the city administrator for Crosby, Minnesota.
“I had the privilege of working with Trish and I’ve gotten to interact with the county board and county departments and the residents of the county,” Verdick said Monday. “I’m really passionate about supporting the county’s growth.”
According to Board Chair Polly Glynn, Verdick was one of two internal options for the board to consider and four options overall
“We’re really pleased and it was a unanimous decision by the board,” Glynn said. “He comes from Rice County and he brought some good ideas from there.”
